Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Live Free From Nicotine Addiction
Is laser therapy safe?
Laser therapy is non-invasive and drug-free. It has been widely used internationally for over 35 years. The laser used by Freedom Laser Therapy Clinics is a low-level or “soft” laser, no more powerful than a light bulb.
What parts of the body receive laser?
A low-level laser is applied to specific energy points on the hands, face, wrist and ears, which are associated with nicotine addiction.
Is laser therapy covered by medical insurance?
Laser Therapy for smoking cessation is not eligible for health insurance coverage at this time. The cost of Freedom Laser Therapy’s program is $299-$349 (varies per State). A pack a day smoker spends approximately $1,500 annually, which is less than 1/3 of a person’s typical annual cigarette expenditure.
How many laser sessions are needed?
Laser therapy at Freedom involves one session. Low level laser is currently being studied in the U.S. to see if it increases the body’s production of endorphins, thereby reducing or eliminating the physical withdrawal symptoms and cravings normally associated with quitting smoking, especially during the first few weeks. Generally the first 72 hours are the most difficult time for a person to quit smoking.
Are there any health or medical conditions that would prevent me from participating in the laser therapy clinical research trial?
If you have cancer or epilepsy, are pregnant, use a pacemaker or are taking photosensitive medication, laser therapy should not be used for smoking cessation. Not treating these particular clients is a precautionary measure. Freedom Laser Therapy does not diagnose or treat illness or prescribe medication. Laser therapy is not intended to replace medical care. We recommend that you consult your physician for a professional diagnosis of your health.
Is it guaranteed?
Low-level laser therapy is being studied to see if it helps the client cope with physical urges and cravings. The low-level laser does not take away your psychological addiction to nicotine. Each client has a unique level to his/her addiction, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed. Freedom will works closely with each client to support them in achieving their goals.
